Would you be uncomfortable if someone who practiced Voodoo and/or animal sacrifice moved in near you?

If you would, what measures would you take? Would you ignore them? Proselytize? Try to get them to move?
My Mambo recently had a problem where her neighbors were uncomfortable with her religion and trying to either convert her or get her to leave. She was unsure about whether it had to do with her race or her religion and said that that this is common in both Voodoo and Santerian circles, what would people here do?

Seek legal measures, and if that don’t work, I’ll get my baseball bat and go to jail!!
if you don’t believe in it…or you trust God…then no!
personally…I would go try it for myself with them. I never knock something until I try it
voodoo i don’t mind.
sacrificing is a whole different story
i’d be livid and beat the living shiz out of someone for that
animal control and or cops
I’d probably be her friend. Be there when she needed help…that sorta thing. The best way to “proselytize” is to live by example.
And as long as she killed the animals in a humane fashion, her practices wouldn’t bother me.
Voodoo is a mind trick it only works if your think it is true.
Well, I definitely wouldn’t leave any pets outside. Lol.
slightly
No cuz i dont believe in those liez. God is always protecting me from evil so nothing shall touch me. Pray !!!!!!!!!
Hmmm…
do you know my neighbor?
is there something you have been trying to tell me?
so it’s NOT fried chicken?
I would call the cops, have that crap checked out.
Yes.. teenagers are a pain in the ass, all those parties and they get drunk on 2 cans
As long as they were nice to me (and didn’t sacrifice my pets) I’m fine with it.
They could practice all the Voodoo they want. I don’t believe in it and it would not affect me. I may even be a little curious.
Animal sacrifice? I would call the police the first time I got a inkling that was going on.
I wouldn’t care because I don’t believe in their practices. Belief kills and belief cures.
I don’t think that their wasting of precious time would affect me much. It is they who are using valuable minutes of their life in the pursuit of the non-existent.
I would be very uncomfortable because we have pets in our neighborhood.
I wouldn’t try to get them to leave, this is a free country…..however I would watch to make sure the pets were safe.
Well since I don’t believe in voodoo and santerian circles, it wouldn’t bother me at all. About the part of sacrificing animals, I would just try to take care of my pets.
I wouldn’t care unless he would like to influence on me. I would try to get to know them better.
Well if there is animal sacrificing I would be forced to call the cops, since that is inhumane. If it was someone who practiced Voodoo I really wouldn’t care. Hell I’d go over there and ask questions about it, since I’m naturally curious about all things.
But yeah, I don’t care what you do, as long as you don’t harm another living being.
I would be extremely uncomfortable. But, then again, that’s just because of the culture I’ve been raised in. Voodoo and sacrifices are normal in other cultures, so I can accept and appreciate it, but that doesn’t mean I have to be comfortable with it. I wouldn’t criticize anyone for it either.
As for your problem, people should learn to accept everyone, and if her neighbors fail to understand that everyone isn’t the same, then that lies on them. You shouldn’t be ashamed about your religion or race because it’s what you believe in and about your culture, which should be appreciated, no matter what.
if someone moved in who sacrifices animals, i would have a huge problem, because i have animals, and because i care about animals. i would consider their actions to be cruelty to animals. i also have very little respect for religious practices that involve killing.
if i couldn’t convince them to stop, or get the law to make them stop, i would move away if i could.
Sacrificing? I know there’s a lot of laws about that.. If they’re not doing it illegally, no big deal to me. Well, if they’re not doing it cruelly as well.. My uncle and aunt use to raise and slaughter their own meat, so maybe that has something to do with my opinion. I don’t go busting down my neighbor’s door when they cook a steak. As I understand, the animal is eaten or otherwise used in Voodoo, so waste isn’t an issue.
Their religion practices are their own business.
Actually, I’d think it would be pretty cool to have a neighbor who practiced Voodoo or Santeria, they are both interesting religions. I could learn a lot from them. (My personal beliefs would keep me away from the whole sacrifice thing, though..)
No i don’t care what other people do unless it involves me
As an animal advocate, yes……..I would be concerned. What would I do would be dependent upon what he or she does first. After all, what a person ” might ” do is not a crime.
I dislike animal sacrifice, but I see it being no different than watching someone eating a hamburger/roast chicken/etc.
No, I wouldn’t be uncomfortable. I simply wouldn’t want the blood anywhere near the area I usually have my circle in (which is why I don’t use bones/teeth/etc).
I would think th person is missing a freakin screw…but I guess I would ignore him/her. I dont believe in voodoo, but the sacrificing animals is a little Beyond. I guess I would just keep about my business, and not getting involved with the person.
That would be totally sweet!
I’d ask if I could drink the blood a virgin and then cover a crucifix in gasoline a burn it on my chest! THEN after that I’d make sure that all chickens around me were raped and then killed properly according to the voodoo practice.
From a Christian perspective, I personally would not fear the people, their powers, the source of their powers, nor would I be uncomfortable. I am well protected by Jesus Christ. I would share the Gospel with them but there would be no need to try to get them to move. Circumstances would take care of that.
I don’t care what people practice or believe in, just so they keep in to themselves.
I may be slightly concerned regarding clean-up as any animal slaughtered (ritually or otherwise) can become a health hazard if the area is not properly cleaned up after… As long as the person cleaned properly no problem…
In my neighborhood we also have an unwritten neighborly policy of informing each other of planned larger gatherings at which more traffic than usual and more noise than usual is expected after 10 pm… We do this out of common neighborly courtesy so a noisy party etc. isn’t a surprise to the others… I would ask that she abide by this policy as well…
He would fit right in with the rest of us crazies.
Voodoo wouldn’t bother me because it is just a religion. Animal sacrifice, that would depend. Wait – hear me out here. If non-food animals were being killed then I would report it to the police. If even food animals were being tortured or killed in cruel ways I would also report that. But, nobody would report their neighbors who are farmers for killing a chicken for dinner or for killing animals that will end up in the grocery store. Nobody would report their neighbors for hunting. Geese are sometimes ceremonially killed for holidays like Martinmas or Christmas. In other words, if a person dedicated a chicken to god before killing it how would that be different than just plain killing it?
I would use the weapons of warfare that God has given to war against the forces of evil and drive them out.
